Happy Birthday to my wonderful hubby today!

This is the card I made for him. I put it off all week lol…but procrastination can be a good thing sometimes. I picked out my stamp earlier this week and was going to color him but then decided to paper piece him in a New York Yankees outfit.  I never thought I would willingly draw a NYY logo or make something NYY themed but I love my husband dearly so I overcame it LOL.  (P.S. Go Red Sox!!)

Card 9-June 2014 MFT Baseball Boy

I started by stamping the MFT Pinstripe background in Nightshift Blue onto Sweet Tooth paper.  Then I stamped the image on top of it, cutting out the top and pants.  I couldn’t stop there with the paper piecing though!  I inked up my MFT Wood Plank background stamp with Natural ink onto Natural cardstock and cut that out.  I colored up the adorable MFT Baseball Boy and added the paper pieced elements.  I attempted to add red stitching to the ball but it does not show up well at all in the picture. I guarantee this card looks so much better in person!

The layout is based on MFT’s sketch this week, I left off the little flag on the front and stamped the inside with a sentiment from the set that says “Slidin’ by with a Birthday Hi”.  Mike loved the card and was surprised by the theme 🙂

I would also like to enter my card into the Sports challenge at Crafty Boots.

Here is the sketch~
