Hello and Happy June!!

 

I am kicking off my Craft From My Stash Summer 2015 with my first entry into #thedailymarker30day2 coloring challenge (linking up on Instagram) and I used the new sketch at The Challenge. (sketch near the end of the post – I should note that I turned the sketch to accommodate my image!) I am also entering this card into the “In the Kitchen” challenge at House Mouse & Friends, dug out this oldie but goodie from one of my wood mount stamp bins.

 

I used my new Zig Clean Color real brush pens for the first time to color my image. I am in.love.with.them! They are fabulous. It is really easy to control how much or how little color you use depending on how you use them. I will explain a bit under the picture.

 

2015 Card 38 - HM Poppin Good Birthday

 

Some parts of the image were colored with the pens and then I blended it using a waterbrush. To get the different color between the popcorn and the candles, I colored the candles full strength and added Wink of Stella for a bit of sparkle. For the popcorn, the kernels were colored full strength and then I went over it with the waterbrush. Then I colored the yellow on a scrap piece of cardstock and lifted the color with the waterbrush to color in the pieces of popcorn.  I think the beauty of these pens is the ability to color without having the full selection.  I am really happy I took the plunge on this new trend. I have several other coloring options in my room that were “must haves” that either were used and not liked or have not bothered to use them yet.  This was one of the good purchases 🙂

Popcorn/Flames: #050 Yellow

Cake plate/Spoon: #091 Light Gray

Mouse on the left: 071 – Flesh Color & #064 Oatmeal

Mouse on the right: 071 – Flesh Color, #064 Oatmeal and #065 Mid Brown
