I know it’s been quiet on the crafty front…I’m trying to get my act together to make some cards in the next few days. I am also trying to pack for a crop where I plan on making lots of Christmas cards to share in special posts next month (and hopefully get them mailed to my family & friends!) I am soooo failing at the packing light part LOL!
When you choose an image for a project, how do you decide what coloring medium to use? I almost always use my Copics but I have been wanting to branch out and try new things. I recently took a card class where we colored with colored pencils (already own a TON of Prismacolor pencils) and watercolor pencils (the day before I purchased a set of Inktense pencils). For the record, I also own Distress inks, refills and markers that yet to see the light of day on projects. I plan to pack copics that match the images and also bring the Inktense pencils and watercolor paper.
I have no thought process on how I will choose to color each image…and that thought turned into a little blog post. I know there is no right or wrong answer, I’m just curious on how you all pull together your projects.
It’s New Year’s Eve! Any big plans?
We will be ringing in the New Year in our home, just the way I like it. I’d much rather celebrate at home than out in a crowded restaurant/bar/party. We have lots of junk food on tap and plan to have Dick Clark’s Rockin New Year’s Eve on in the background as we play card/board games that I will hopefully win.
Once upon a time I used to do a round up of my favorite cards & layouts of the year, however I can’t say I’ve done a whole lot in the 2nd half of 2013 so there isn’t much to choose from. But in the spirit of sharing favorites, I’m doing what I’ve seen several bloggers do and share moments/photos from the past year.
January ~ My girl and I
February ~ the most snow I have ever seen in my life! I think we got around 23 inches and were snowed in for a day and a half!
March ~ there are two for this month!
First up my Amber girl turned 3!
My nephew & godson Kaleb turned 1! Such an exciting and emotional day. The little guy had a rough start being 2 months premature so watching him grow has been an incredible blessing. I can’t believe how much he has grown since this picture!
April ~ Seeing Scotty McCreery in person. Incredible!!
May – My husband surprised me with NKOTB tickets for Valentine’s Day. Seeing NKOTB live was a teenage girl’s dream finally come true. I will admit to tearing up several times LOL. They were absolutely amazing and I would love to see them again!
June ~ Seeing my stepsister, Nancy. It had been about 6.5 years since she last visited here.
July ~ My coworker (and friend) gave us tickets to a Red Sox/Yankees game. Another item checked off my bucket list! Super exciting for Mike and I to see our teams play against each other! This moment was the first at bat for my team and Ellsbury hit a homer that went into our section. I was too busy taking pictures not realizing a ball went past me LOL!
August ~ Fun at the Sunflower Maze for my birthday
September ~ Celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary at the Happiest Place on Earth!
October ~ THE RED SOX WON THE WORLD SERIES!!!!!!!!!! What an exciting season of baseball! I am anxiously awaiting Opening Day 2014!! (sorry for the blurry pic!)
November ~ Celebrating Thanksgiving with Kaleb, my sister, BIL and parents. It’s the first time in many years my sister and her family could join us. Kaleb is in the high chair that my sister & I used. My mom saves everything LOL!
December ~ Us on Christmas night at my parents 🙂
I hope you enjoyed this stroll through 2013! I certainly did!
As I said in a post a week or so ago, I couldn’t decide on anything for the coming year. My mind was a mixed up jumble of stuff!
After talking with my husband, I decided to set goals for our home and for my crafting/reading. I know I may not finish everything but I think having some guidance on areas I’d like to focus on will help immensely. I have pages set up on here to keep me on track. I’m hoping I can make a little progress each month.
I also wasn’t planning on a word for 2014 but one found it’s way to me this morning.
Here is some inspiration I found for my word~
I plan on keeping this word in the forefront of my mind as I go through life each day. I’ve started a Pinterest board for my word and have pinned several quotes I found already and plan to add more as I find them.
Have you/are you selecting a word for the upcoming year?
Thanks for visiting!
As is natural this time of year, I’ve been reflecting on the past 12 months and thinking ahead to the New Year. Beware, lots of random thoughts I’ve been thinking finally tumbling out.
I love to make lists and I love to check things off those lists…however this year I didn’t cross off as much as I hoped. Did I make too many lists? Did I set my goals too high? Or was I just a lazy slug some of the year. To be honest, it was all of the above.
My major accomplishments were redoing my craft room and finishing two book series. Nothing earth shattering but they were things on my list. I still have several book, craft and personal goals that were never met. Did they have to be met? No, but it would have been nice checking off a few more things.
What do I want to do next year? I have no idea…I did discuss it with a friend and she suggested setting a few goals and not publicizing them. I did think about doing that since I would only be liable to myself and not feeling like I have to “check in” on the blog…but I do like having that record to go back and look upon to see where I’ve been spending (or not) my time.
I didn’t pick a word for 2013 and I’m wondering if that is where I could have made things better. To have that word as motivation to keep me going. Or would have that just added additional pressure on me (and I know no one else is putting that pressure on me besides me). I can be my own worst enemy at times!
Right now, I’m leaning towards picking a goal each month to focus on instead of having lists upon lists to choose from. I think narrowing my focus may help and hopefully blogging about them will keep me in check. I could change my mind in the next 10 days too. We’ll see!
I’m happy to at least get this stuff out of my head for now!
