Birds of a Feather

Happy June!

 

I made this card last night for a bird house/bird cage swap.  I’ve had this Taylored Expressions Birds of a Feather stamp set for years and never used it until this card.

 

I stamped the bird cage in SU Summer Starfruit and the bird in MFT Berrylicious.  The papers are from Pink Paislee Citrus Bliss.  I added several rhinestones to embellish the card but they didn’t photograph too well.

Hello Friend – RS#196 & Matchup with a Twist #2

Hello Friend – that is the theme of today’s card 🙂

 

I used Retrosketches #196 and for my Matchup – Taylored Expressions stamps, American Crafts paper and the twist: background dies.  I didn’t have any TE background dies that went well with my card so I pulled out an MFT Cover Up die.

 

2016 Card 2 - TE Lets Chat

 

The stamp set I used is called Let’s Chat and I used the coordinating die to cut out the telephone.  The telephone dial was punched out with a Creative Memories circle punch.  I used American Crafts Dear Lizzy 5th & Frolic paper…not really a favorite of mine but hey I bought it, so I need to use it! That’s what I like about my matchup challenge. It’s forcing me away from my favorite go to items and to dig in my stash for other things.

Double Pocket Card

Tonight’s creation is a double pocket card. I joined a pocket card swap since I haven’t made one in ages. Instead of going with the fold I know, I decided to try something new. I found a tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers for the double pocket card

  
I watercolored the teacup bouquet stamp from Taylored Expressions with my Zig Clean Color brushes since I haven’t used them in awhile.

Show Your Hobby card

I recently joined a swap to “show your hobby”.  It didn’t have to be our hobby but that’s what I did since I had the perfect stamp to use!  It’s from an old Taylored Expression set called Crafty Cuppie.

 

2015 Card 103 - Taylored Expressions Crafty Cuppie

 

I used the sketch at Paper Craft Crew. I really liked the cluster of embellishments in the bottom corner. This was my first time using cording as an embellishment. It was pretty easy to attach onto a glue dot, one on the bottom and then one on the scalloped circle over it. The image was colored with copics and I paper pieced Cuppie’s apron.
