Birds of a Feather

Happy June!

I made this card last night for a bird house/bird cage swap.  I’ve had this Taylored Expressions Birds of a Feather stamp set for years and never used it until this card.

I stamped the bird cage in SU Summer Starfruit and the bird in MFT Berrylicious.  The papers are from Pink Paislee Citrus Bliss.  I added several rhinestones to embellish the card but they didn’t photograph too well.

2016 Card 53 - Taylored Expressions Bird of a Feather

The Challenge has a great sketch this week that I used for my card layout.

Hello Friend – RS#196 & Matchup with a Twist #2

Hello Friend – that is the theme of today’s card 🙂

I used Retrosketches #196 and for my Matchup – Taylored Expressions stamps, American Crafts paper and the twist: background dies.  I didn’t have any TE background dies that went well with my card so I pulled out an MFT Cover Up die.

2016 Card 2 - TE Lets Chat

The stamp set I used is called Let’s Chat and I used the coordinating die to cut out the telephone.  The telephone dial was punched out with a Creative Memories circle punch.  I used American Crafts Dear Lizzy 5th & Frolic paper…not really a favorite of mine but hey I bought it, so I need to use it! That’s what I like about my matchup challenge. It’s forcing me away from my favorite go to items and to dig in my stash for other things.

Thanks for stopping by!

Double Pocket Card

Tonight’s creation is a double pocket card. I joined a pocket card swap since I haven’t made one in ages. Instead of going with the fold I know, I decided to try something new. I found a tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers for the double pocket card

I watercolored the teacup bouquet stamp from Taylored Expressions with my Zig Clean Color brushes since I haven’t used them in awhile.

Here are the tags I put in the pockets~

Show Your Hobby card

I recently joined a swap to “show your hobby”.  It didn’t have to be our hobby but that’s what I did since I had the perfect stamp to use!  It’s from an old Taylored Expression set called Crafty Cuppie.

2015 Card 103 - Taylored Expressions Crafty Cuppie

I used the sketch at Paper Craft Crew. I really liked the cluster of embellishments in the bottom corner. This was my first time using cording as an embellishment. It was pretty easy to attach onto a glue dot, one on the bottom and then one on the scalloped circle over it. The image was colored with copics and I paper pieced Cuppie’s apron.
